Recents blog posts are indicating thet the Quallcom Gobi chipset will soon be supported by the Linux kernel. Version 2.6.30 will include a module called qcserial.

To make it work, a firmware loader is needed which can be obtained here: http://www.codon.org.uk/~mjg59/gobi_loader/

This site also conatians instructions on how to obtain the firmware files from the windows installer. I hope I can give it a try this afternoon an will then report if i got it working.
