In order to become a Debian Maintainer I need to switch to a stronger
RSA GnuPg key. As my old one was only a 1024 DSA key I therefor switched
to a new 4096 bit RSA key, one sign-only and one enxcryption-only as
recommended on the Debian Wiki.
My old key will continue to be valid till it expires on 2013-04-22, but I'd
prefer all new correspondence to use the new one. I'll also be switching
my outgoing signatures (email and code) onto the new key. For this
to work well, I'd like my new key to be re-integrated into the web of
trust. So, I've signed this message with both the old and the new
keys, to certify the transaction.
The old key was:
pub 1024D/314C5066 2008-04-23 [expires: 2013-04-22]
Key fingerprint = 4A42 A0D1 894E BA8B 6075 5791 789D F3D7 314C 5066
And the new key is:
pub 4096R/51C7B5B6 2013-03-01
Key fingerprint = D881 2F40 6532 0B8D CA3C EF18 694C ADEF 51C7 B5B6
To fetch my new key from a public key server, you can simply do:
gpg --keyserver pool.sks-keyservers.net --recv-key 51C7B5B6
If you already know my old key, you can now verify that the new key is
signed by the old one:
gpg --check-sigs 51C7B5B6
If you don't already know my old key, or you just want to be double
extra paranoid, you can check the fingerprint against the one above:
gpg --fingerprint 51C7B5B6
If you are satisfied that you've got the right key, and the UIDs match
what you expect, I'd appreciate it if you would sign my key:
gpg --sign-key 51C7B5B6
Lastly, if you could upload these signatures, I would appreciate it.
Please could you just upload the signatures to a public keyserver directly:
gpg --keyserver pool.sks-keyservers.net --send-key 51C7B5B6
Please let me know if there is any trouble, and sorry for the
inconvenience.
Thanks
